The Newport area has some of the best beaches on the East Coast. 2nd Beach is our favorite. The west end is a premier New England surfer's destination. Surfer's end has surfboard and paddleboard rentals throughout the day. Not Surfing? We recommend the east end for rolling waves and white sand. Beach hot dogs and Del's lemonade from the centrally located concession stand complete the beach experience. Parking costs $25 on summer weekends, free after 4:00pm. Enjoy the kite surfers on windy days. |
Historic Mansions + Cliff Walk, 198 Narragansett Ave, Newport, RI
The world famous Newport Mansions are located on and around Bellevue Ave. The servant's tour is a local favorite. Newport’s Cliff Walk is a 3.5 mile walk that combines the natural beauty of the Newport’s shoreline with the architectural history of Newport’s Gilded Age. Enjoy the ocean views, mansions, surfing, and fishing along this historic rocky shore. A section is handicapped accessible. |

Sail Newport is home to New England’s largest public sailing center and is considered Rhode Island’s premier public sailing site. Located at picturesque Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Sail Newport offers easy and affordable access to sailing. Take a lesson, rent a boat. Sail in Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay, home to numerous America's Cup and other world class regattas. |
Norman Bird Sanctuary, 583 3rd Beach Rd, Middletown, RI
The Norman Bird Sanctuary is a 325-acre bird sanctuary, nature preserve and museum with 7 miles of hiking trails and views of fields, woodlands and the ocean. Take a leisurely stroll through the woods or hike to the top of Hanging Rock to a breathtaking view of the ocean and surrounding areas. |
Shopping on Thames
Thames Street is the center of Newport’s downtown/waterfront. It runs approximately 1.5 miles long, but the most popular part stretches from Touro Street to Memorial Drive. The street is lined with restaurants and shops. Explore unique boutiques, and find live music, great ale, and souvenirs. |
